Feature brief description: The Autodesk® Civil 3D® process for adding cogo points to a point group involves opening the prospector, locating the point group and opening the properties window, switching to the include tab, clicking the Selection set in drawing button and finally dismissing the Point group properties window.
This app provides a shortcut for this task by providing a command line whereby you're prompted for a cogo point selection and the app handles the rest without any graphical user interface elements getting in the way. This may come in handy while manually going through a lot of survey points, for example, and categorizing them into various groups.
Note that the app will only manipulate the "Include > with numbers matching" query and will include/exclude the point numbers from the list. It will not touch any of the other options or the Exclude tab
Pros: Free and easy to use.
Cons: Haven't updated to support Civil 3D 2025
15. Enhanced section views creation
Author: NTCL Soft
Rank: 15th most downloaded Civil 3D App
Link download: https://apps.autodesk.com/CIV3D/en/Detail/Index?id=5636972889137368454&appLang=en&os=Win64
Platform: Civil 3D 64 bit 2016 to 2025
Price: Free
Feature brief description: Section view creation in Autodesk® Civil 3D® is quite complicated with lots of parameters. Section views elevation range is hard to control & plot pages often leave large blanks.
This App will help ease the section view task by adding the following features:
Flexible section views arrangement: Number of section views per row/ column is fixed by users
New method for determining elevation range: Elevation range is now implicitly set through the minimum distance below & above sections
Configuration saved to file: Previous session parameters are auto saved on Exit, and manually Reload if needed
Enhanced style setting table: Section name replaced by Section source name, also a source type column is added for clarification
App creates Individual section views, NOT section view group. The following pros & cons of individual section views created by this App should be aware of:
Pros:
Each section view can be manually moved to another position. Position not changed after an update event (eg: annotation scale changed, nearby section view deleted);
The elevation range is implicitly calculated for each section view & recalibration for a section view row; which can minimize blanks & save plot paper;
Cons:
Section views offset range should not be less than the left & right Offset value of sample lines;
When the annotation scale changes, section views should be deleted and re-created;
Section view band set cannot be replaced after creation (a critical error will occur if doing so).
Pros: Free and easy to use
Cons: Not support Imperial drawing
16. TL Alignment Tool
Author: Todor Latev
Rank: 16th most downloaded Civil 3D App
Link download: https://apps.autodesk.com/CIV3D/en/Detail/Index?id=8671758305631424396&appLang=en&os=Win64
Platform: Civil 3D 64-bit 2019 to 2024
Price: Free
Feature brief description: This tool aims to improve the workflow of designing alignments in Autodesk® Civil 3D®, particularly when alignment contains overlapping segments, which is usually the case with ramps.
Start by laying out the alignment segments as polylines. Create an alignment, just an initial segment is enough. Invoke the TLAlignAddPoly command and select your alignment. From that point you can start gluing polyline segments together into your main alignment using the TLAlignAddPoly command.
If a particular segment does not land where you expect it's usually due to a wrong polyline direction orientation. You can easily reverse the direction by using the TLReverseCurveDir command.
Pros: Free and easy to use.
Cons: Haven't updated to support Civil 3D 2025
