Many properties of sample lines, sections, section views and Material lists are hiding in Sample line group properties.
Sometimes, user may notice "strange" behavior at the intersection between existing and design surface. This error may cause wrong Cut/ Fill material computation result.
The reason for this error is: not all sample line stations are added to Corridor frequency list. Some sample line stations that do not match the frequency condition may be missed, and need adding manually.
If corridor is a DREF object, then additional stations should be added to the source Corridor.
For heavy corridor model, it is better to have separated Alignment, Profile, Corridor, Surface drawing and Section view drawing. In Section view drawing, surface, alignment, profile, corridor and even sample line group are Data shortcut referenced (DREF) objects.
By this way, processing speed is significantly increased, due to tons of hidden auto update events of Civil 3D are deactivated.
However, users should be aware of some side effects of using DREF objects:
A DREF Sample line group misses all Material Lists defined in source Sample line group. Material Lists need to be defined in Section view drawing
A DREF corridor does NOT contain corridor surfaces. Corridor surfaces such as Top surface, Datum surface... must be separately referenced and update as normal surfaces
